Goals

The Omani Cultural Attaché in the United States of America strives to provide Omani scholars with the best services at various university levels in accordance with the rules of their funding agencies; so that Omani students are prepared to develop their skills and capabilities; all of this to ensure the creation of competitive national competencies that benefit the Sultanate of Oman. The Cultural Office is responsible for Omani scholars since the day of their arrival to the United States and Canada in terms of academic supervision and follow-up, as well as assistance and guidance to achieve the desired success and complete their degree requirements on the expected date.

In addition, the cultural office assists students in locating the best educational opportunities by coordinating with the most prestigious universities and educational institutions in USA & Canada. The office also provides academic and financial support for students to ensure they focus on their progress and studies. Hence, the cultural office team supports Omani scholars in every possible way and strives to create a healthy academic atmosphere for students so that they can overcome any difficulties they may face during their stay and study period in the United States of America and Canada.

On the other hand, the Cultural Office increases scientific relations between educational institutions in the Sultanate of Oman and their counterparts in the USA and Canada by building a bridge for the exchange of scientific and technical expertise. Thus, the Cultural Office is considered the academic and cultural facade of Oman in the United States of America, and this is manifested in its participation in educational conferences, providing support to cultural educational activities at universities as well as organizing seminars in educational forums related to the Omani heritage and ancient civilization. In that respect, the cultural office supports the Omani students’ associations, out of its belief in the role of these associations in introducing the cultural heritage and modern achievements of the Sultanate of Oman and highlighting Omani traditions to the world.

In cooperation with the Sultanate's embassy in Washington, the attaché assists Omani scholars to deal with the social and academic challenges they may face during their stay in the United States of America and Canada.
